How to maximize your tutoring appointment:
- Avoid waiting until the last minute to request tutoring services. The tutoring center tends to be busier during midterms and finals, so plan accordingly.
- Arrive early and prepare a plan or questions about the material you want to cover. Don’t forget to bring your textbook and any relevant materials with you!
- Try to complete your assignments before the session and note any specific concepts where you need help.
- Don’t assume that tutors will do your work for you or provide answers without involving you in the learning process.
- Actively participate in tutoring sessions and be open to the tutor’s feedback and suggestions.
- Avoid disclosing or discussing non-academic or irrelevant information during your tutoring sessions.
- Allow tutors to help you focus on key concepts and take notes on what is discussed during the session.
- Avoid interrupting other students' tutoring appointments. Please be respectful of everyone in the Learning Center.
- Utilize faculty office hours to confirm you are on the right track.
- Don't be afraid to try something new! Embrace challenges and explore different approaches.
If you have any questions or need assistance stop by the Learning Center in Franco 161 or email berkslearning@psu.edu.
